Take Charge of Your Health

Last Year YWTF-DC created a yogi group to inspire healthy habits and introduce members to the benefits of yoga by participating in free yoga classes around the city. This year we've expanding that theme to Take Charge of Your Health. We'll be hosting events and activities throughout the year focused on mental and physical fitness and health. Look for healthy recipes and event information on this page and in our monthly newsletters.



YWTF-DC Yogi Group! Join us at Lululemon's free Sunday yoga class at their Georgetown store. Whether you've practiced for years, months or it's your first time, come along! Get to know other YWTF: DC members while getting a great work out!

For All Yoga Sessions: Wear comfortable clothing/work out clothes, bring a yoga mat*Studios usually have mat's for folks to use/rent however, YWTF-DC is unable to provide mat's.

Take Charge Healthy Recipe of the Month:

Mediterranean Tostadas
Recipe courtesy of ‘Healthy Meals’ Boarders cookbook
Serves 2
Ingredients:
Olive Oil
Lemon Juice
Salt & Pepper
4 Medium skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
2 whole wheat pita bread rounds
hummus
tomato
cucumber
cilantro (optional)


  • Cut your chicken into long strips or cubes, which ever you prefer. Sauté on medium heat with a little bit of olive oil, salt & pepper.
  • Chop the cilantro; cut up your cucumber, tomato and cooked chicken into small chunks.
  • Spread hummus over pita and cover generously with chicken, tomato, cucumber and cilantro. Drizzle a little bit of olive oil over top and a quick squeeze of lemon.
