About the national Younger Women's Task Force:

YWTF, a project of the National Council of Women’s Organizations, is a nationwide, diverse and inclusive grassroots movement dedicated to organizing younger women and their allies to take action on issues that matter most to them. By and for younger women, YWTF works both within and beyond the women’s movement, engaging all who are invested in advancing the rights of younger women.

Leadership Committee(LC): 

LC members are part of the leadership team and are active in the chapter. They attend meetings and/or contribute their time and talent to planning events and activities. LC members are expected to contribute to at least two YWTF:DC events during each board term. They will be able to work closely with the Board of Directors on specific projects without the time commitment a board position requires. The goal of the LC is to provide leadership opportunities for members and to act in an advisor capacity to the board of directors.

Running for a Leadership Position: Informal elections are held each spring (May-June).  Candidates are required to have participated in at least 1 activity with YWTF: DC and newcomers are welcome.  Each candidate must submit a letter of intent (via e-mail) to the Chapter Director stating which position(s) she is running for and why.


Annual Leadership Retreat: Each summer YWTF:DC leadership past and present and Leadership Committee members come together for a two day retreat in the Shenandoah Valley region of VA to celebrate the year that was, share ideas and officially transition to the new board term.
